Last updated 3 September 2026 · Test Match Scoreboard (testmatchscoreboard.com)
Test Match Scoreboard is run by a small independent developer in Australia and is deliberately light on data. This page says exactly what is stored, why, who else touches it, and how to have it removed.
What we store
Without an account, scoring a match stores the match itself: team names, player first names, and the ball-by-ball record. A small cookie on the device that is scoring links those matches to that browser so a refresh mid-over recovers the game. Nothing about you personally is collected.
With an account, we store the email address you register with and your password, which is kept only as a salted hash and cannot be read back. Accounts and matches are held in our own database; no third-party identity provider is involved. When you sign up, any matches scored on that browser as a guest are moved into your account.
Matches you share by code are visible to anybody who has the code, on the live scoreboard and the printable scorecard.
Cookies
- Sign-in cookie, to keep you logged in.
- Guest cookie, so an anonymous scorer's matches survive a page refresh.
- Security cookie, used to protect forms against forgery.
These are essential to the service and are not used for tracking. The landing page and these information pages set no cookies at all.
Analytics
Google Analytics counts page views so we know which parts of the scorer get used. Google signals, the cross-device advertising profile, are switched off. You can block analytics with any standard content blocker without affecting the scorer.
Advertising
The free tier may show Google AdSense units on the scoring and setup pages, never on the scoreboard or the scorecard. Where ads are shown they are configured as non-personalised. AdSense may set its own cookies; you can control ad personalisation at Google Ad Settings. Accounts with an active unlock see no ads and receive no advertising cookies from us.
Third parties
- Stripe processes unlock payments. We receive the amount, the email address used to pay, and a reference for the purchase, so the unlock can be applied to the matching account. We never see card details.
- Brevo sends account confirmation and password reset emails on our behalf.
- Have I Been Pwned is consulted when you set a password. Only the first five characters of a hash of the password are sent, so the password itself never leaves the server.
- Cloudflare sits in front of the site for security and caching, and Microsoft Azure in Australia hosts it.
- Google provides analytics and, where shown, advertising, as above.
We do not sell data, and we do not share it with anybody else.
Children
Player names on scorecards are often children's first names. Please enter first names or nicknames only, never full names, ages, or other details. Where ads are shown they are non-personalised. Accounts are for the adult doing the scoring; we do not knowingly create accounts for children under 13.
Retention
Matches and accounts are kept until you ask for them to be removed or the service is retired. Guest matches that were never claimed by an account may be cleared periodically.
Removal and access
To delete your account or matches, or to receive a copy of the data held about you, email [email protected] from the address you signed up with, or reply to a Stripe receipt. See the contact page.
Changes
If what we collect changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised.
